I not so jokingly tell people that my dog is the love of my life. I got him when I lived by myself before my husband and I were even a thing. He would go anywhere/everywhere with me to the point where he has some mild anxiety if we’re apart. My bad. I quickly showered him with gifts and toys and custom made things from etsy. This escalated to the point where he had multiple bowties for every season that matched my outfits. Yes, I became one of those crazy obsessed dog-moms. I have no regrets.

This was not something I could maintain and so to be more cost effective I began to make my own. I would make a scarf for myself and then make him a matching bowtie. There are various methods but I found that using flannel and stitching, rather than gluing, works best. For the infinity scarf I use a sewing machine like in the video. For the bowtie I hand stitch that thing. Most of the time I iron the fabric and folds first but sometimes I don’t. I have never used starch and I attach a piece of elastic not velcro to the back of the bowtie so that I can easily slip it on and off his collar.

Here are my favorite tutorials for making an infinity scarf and doggie bowtie.
